    During this program, you will receive an update on all of the candidates as well as an indication on the high-profile races that will take place during the general election.  

    You will also hear about new reporting requirements that went into effect on July 1.

    Harassment in the Workplace 
    Emily Steimel-Handy, Public Education Coordinator,  YWCA Center for Safety & Empowerment

    Business leaders agree that sexual harassment is a problem that affects their workplaces. Regardless of gender, studies show that 1 in 6 people have experienced sexual harassment in their workplace. However, only 30% of harassment is ever reported.
    This informative training that will outline why employers should be concerned about the impact of sexual harassment in the workplace, as well as to learn about approaches corporations can take to address this pervasive issue to maintain a safe and respectful workplace environment.
    Emily Steimel-Handy is the Public Education Coordinator at the YWCA Center for Safety & Empowerment where victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking and stalking are served. A Kansas native, Emily graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Emily has been an advocate in this field for four years, first as an intern and then as professional staff. Previously, Emily worked at the domestic and sexual violence agency in Emporia as shelter staff and as a hotline advocate. She also worked as a student assistant on Emporia State University's campus facilitating and developing campus-wide sexual assault prevention and education curriculum for The Healthy Relationship and Interpersonal Violence Education Program. Since being at the YWCA, Emily has provided training and presentations to thousands of professionals and community members on the topics of domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking, stalking, harassment and trauma.

    Mea Austin is a Certified Executive and Life Coach as well as a Time Management expert. She is recognized nationally as an authority on variety of leadership and motivational topics including Work/Life Balance, The Power of Happiness, Increasing Self- Esteem, Creative & Compassionate Leadership, Adapting to Change and Goal Setting. Her experience spans a variety of fields including executive leadership, health care, human resources and entrepreneurship. Attendees have said their experience with Mea was “entertaining, high energy, meaningful and a “breath of fresh air."
